Our students live in a world marked by upheaval, whether due to the global climate crisis or a shift to the political right. Democratic values and global cooperation are being challenged around the world. English language education can address these issues by creating a forum for discourse about global challenges and social goals. This term’s Current Issues Lecture Series is dedicated to the exploration of language education’s social aims, which include, among other things, teaching and learning for human rights and children’s rights, fostering critical media literacy, and ecopedagogies. We are delighted to offer five fantastic workshops/lectures revolving around those issues and look forward to meeting you there! Being at the forefront of research in this field, her work explores the manifold intersections between language education and the social responsibilities of global citizens in the 21st century, including to uphold and defend the rights of all.
