CLIL as a pedagogical approach for enhancing EFL acquisition

The Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) pedagogical approach for enhancing foreign language acquisition has attracted great attention in the field of education in recent years. CLIL integrates subject content with the target language(s), resulting in an immersive language learning experience. With this in mind, the purpose of this presentation is to discuss the effectiveness of CLIL as a tool for improving the proficiency of learners of English as a Foreign Language (EFL), as supported by the existing scientific literature. The incorporation of CLIL into the teaching of EFL is based on the premise that language acquisition thrives in meaningful and authentic contexts. In this way, CLIL enables learners to use EFL for specific purposes while acquiring subject content knowledge.
