  to normalise and entrench contemporary reactionary and regressive politic
 s. Specifically\, I consider how the use of the word gender (in English) i
 s mobilised in different European anti-gender campaigns to entextualise a 
 particular understanding of gender as being in conflict with local cultura
 l values and so construe movements for gendered and sexuality equality as
