I am the academic administrator (Kustodin), Deputy Erasmus Coordinator and IT representative of the Department of English, American and Celtic Studies. I am also a board member of the Medieval Studies Centre. My main research interests are Scottish Literature (esp. 15th and 16th century), medieval English literature (Chaucer, Margery Kempe, Old English poetry), historical linguistics, dialectology, palaeography and manuscript studies. 

I teach modules on medieval literatures and culture, Old English, Middle English and Scots.

I have supervised BA and MA thesis on various topics, mostly in Medieval Studies, such as "Misogyny in Medieval Scottish Literature", "'Thow jappyst, as I wene': Genre Subversion through Humour in Sir Gawain and the Carle of Carlisle and The Wright’s Chaste Wife", and "Aspects of National Identity and Chivalry in John Barbour’s ‘The Brus’".

I was educated at the Universities of Bonn, Aberdeen, and Edinburgh.

I am the Administrative Coordinator of our department and therefore responsible (together with the head of department) for the administration and management of the department. I am also Advisor of Studies (responsible for certificates (Bescheinigungen), learning agreements and crediting of modules), the course convener of the MA Medieval Studies and the departmental Vice Erasmus-Coordinator.

Research Interests

Scottish Literature (esp. 15th and 16th century); medieval literature (Chaucer, Margery Kempe, Old English poetry); historical linguistics, dialectology, paleography.
