Guest Lecture by Erez Levon (University of Bern)
In this talk, I discuss how English get marginalised as a way to normalise and entrench contemporary reactionary and regressive politics. Specifically, I consider how the use of the word gender (in English) is mobilised in different European anti-gender campaigns to entextualise a particular understanding of gender as being in conflict with local cultural values and so construe movements for gendered and sexuality equality as antithetical to the nation.
