The LanDPoSts Workshop on “Language, Discourse and Power Structures in (De-)Democratization”, headed by Prof. Dr. Svenja Kranich and the LETS-Team, took place on the 26-27 of June in the Festsaal at the University of Bonn. The workshop was part of an interdisciplinary cooperation between researchers in various fields and universities. There were insights into research on how societies negotiate social, political, cultural, and economic power structures and how this is reflected in linguistic, discursive, and social forms. The workshop showcased studies from professional research of our very own university, as well as several contributions from professors and lectures of other national and international universities. We were also happy to include student papers from our university that deal with the general topic of (de-)democratization in a poster session.

The IAAK organised for the second time a Queer Week, taking place Monday, 2nd June – Friday, 6th June to highlight interesting topics in queer studies and queer linguistics the department is working on and teaching in classes. These were combined with a rainbow of different activities and events, such as invited talks, readings, workshops, film viewings, etc. You can find the complete program below,.  We thank each and everyone for a great contributions, all the interesting conversations and discussions, and an overall amazing Queer Week 2025!
